Obituary

James "Jim" Edward Ditterline, II, 61, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, in Pensacola, FL. Jim was born on February 4, 1962, in Los Angeles, CA to James Edward Ditterline and Valerie Jamrok. He is the grandson of Polish immigrants, Apolonia Mutala and Peter Jamrok.

Jim graduated high school at Choctawhatchee High in Fort Walton Beach and received a BS and MS from Troy University, in Troy, Alabama. He was a Master Counselor at the Eckerd Wilderness Camp E-Ma-Chamee for juvenile boys, and a licensed mental health counselor at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility for men. Jim was a sports enthusiast in school where he lettered in football, and played golf, baseball and bowled. He later became a fisherman and a certified scuba diving instructor.

Jim was a big man with an even bigger heart. He was known for his kindness to his family and friends, and the juveniles and adults he counseled. Jim met his wife Michelle at one of the weekly dinners at neighbor Liz Hrbacek's home in Pensacola. Michelle and Jim enjoyed cooking, boating, and family gatherings. They are avid University of Alabama football fans and members of the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel. Often Jim was asked for his cheese grits recipe when he and Michelle provided the Sunday Mass refreshments. He was known for flipping pancakes and frying fish at the Knights of Columbus Council 8589 church events. Jim was also a member of the Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge 497.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Sandra Michalec Schaller (Earl).

Jim is survived by his wife, Michelle Goley; sisters, Valerie Davies (Daniel) and Jamie Crawley (Gary); four nieces, and his blue heeler, dog Peggy.
