James Leigh King, 82, of Ono Island. Orange Beach, AL, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014. Mr. King was born in Wilmington, NC to Myrtie Sewell and Perry James King. Mr. King graduated with a B.S. degree from East Carolina University. James served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force, Retiring as a Lt. Colonel. Mr. King was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pensacola, FL, Retired Officers Association, USAA, Air Force Memorial Foundation, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL Golf Club, and the Ono Island Men's Club. James was an avid sailor and golfer for 40 years. Mr. King is preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Nancy Elizabeth Kurka-King. Mr. King is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Sandra Brown Kennell-King; sons, James L. King, Jr, Houston TX, David Richard King (Jennifer Loeb-King), Dallas, TX; step-sons, James Christopher "Chris" Kennell (Kortni), Magnolia Springs, AL, Adam Jared Kennell, Gulf Shores, AL; grandchildren, Annie Elizabeth King and James David King, Dallas TX, Krystin Clara Kennell, Kambell Cathryn Kennell, Magnolia Springs, AL; brother, Douglas Sewell King (Janet), Roebuck, SC and 1 loving devoted 4-legged friend, "Baxter". There will be a private graveside service at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.
