James William Lewis, 70, of Pace, FL passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019.
He was born in Conway, SC on July 4, 1948 to Henry R. & Reba G. Lewis. He graduated from Conway High School in 1968 and immediately joined the US Navy. Thru his Navy career, he became a SeaBee and served in Vietnam. James was stationed in Thailand in 1972 where he met his wife, Duanchan "Tim". After retirement from the Navy, he opened a cross-country long-haul trucking business. He loved to travel and see his family and friends. Since he was a boy, he loved and enjoyed building hotrods, drag racing, western novels and movies. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Tim Lewis; son, Sam Lewis; brothers, John H. Lewis, Carl W. Lewis, Fredrick Lewis, and W. Joe Lewis; sisters, Carolyn L. McDower, Mary L. Tice, and Esta L. Hicks; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 11:00am until a Memorial Service to begin at 12:00noon Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full Navy honors.
