James "Jim" Thomas Lord, Sr., age 85, of Pensacola, FL was called home Sunday, May 5, 2019.
Jim was born March 15, 1934 to James Russell Lord and Mary Patrick Finn. He attended the University of Miami, then on to dental school but preferred to work in sales. Jim went to work at Southern Bell in 1959 as a yellow page salesman and retired as Personnel Manager many years later. He was fondly known as "Volvo Jim" was an avid antique Volvo enthusiast. He could assemble one of these cars with his eyes closed. Among other interests, he loved growing vegetables, fishing, and roaming through junkyards and old barns. Jim Lord loved his family. He was always the life of the party and always entertaining friends and family with adventuresome stories. He also loved to sing and play the guitar. He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed. He played fast-pitch softball in his adult years and loved hunting as well.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Timothy Lord.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, James Thomas Lord, Jr. (Janet), Jacqueline Wilde (Mark), Kimberly Caraszi (Craig), and Matthew Lord; grandchildren, Shannon Pierce (David), Kristen Mann (James), Rachel Lord, Jennifer Zecheil (Luke), Ashley Caraszi, Aimee Caraszi, Michael Caraszi, and Matthew Caraszi; great-grandchildren, Alyssa & Tyler Pierce, Hannah Galloway, Madison & Gavin Mann, and Caleb & Noah Zechiel; brother, William C. Lord (Shugsie).
A Celebration of Life Service will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, Thursday, May 9, 2019 in the Governor's Pavilion at Big Lagoon State Park, Pensacola, Florida.
The family offers special thanks to the caring staff at Grandview Retirement Home; Dr. Matthew Daniels and staff; Patrice with the Sacred Heart CHF clinic; Ryan with Emerald Coast Health Care; David and Kat Leoin; Cliff and Jeff Collier; and Ralph Suqua.
