James Edward Thompson, 79, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
He was born on July 7, 1946, in Zanesville, OH, to Iva J. Thompson and Lindy E. Thompson. As the son of a US Army serviceman, he grew up in many places. He later served in the US Army, stationed in the Philippines and then at Fort Meade, MD.
He built a long career in information technology, working 11 years at First National Bank of Maryland and later spending 25 years with McCormick & Company.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Iva J. Thompson and Lindy E. Thompson, as well as his wife, Dorothy J. Thompson.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Deirmengian, MD (husband-Greg Deirmengian, MD); his grandchildren, Gregory, Victoria and Rebecca; his sister, Linda T. Carden; his aunt, Beverly Francisca; his uncle, Franklin Hartsell; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Interment will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.

The family wishes to thank his caregivers, Matthew Norwood and Easter Welch. They would also like to thank VITAS Hospice, especially Alexys Ward, LPN, and the staff of the VITAS Hospice Unit of Sacred Heart Hospital.
He will be remembered with love by all those who knew him.
