James "Jim"
Warren Aikin
May 1, 1927 – May 11, 2018
James Aikin, 91, a life-long Pensacola resident, passed away May 11, 2018 surrounded by family and exceptional hospital and hospice staff.
Jim grew up at Alcaniz/Jackson, graduated from PHS ('45), and served in the US Army in post-WWII France. After serving, Jim graduated from FSU before returning to Pensacola to begin a life-spanning career in the building supply industry.
A fervent sports fan, Jim particularly enjoyed FSU football, even in the bad days. Tennis was also a source of joy for Jim, doubles being a specialty. On retirement, Jim enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Bette.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Bette and his oldest son, Jim.
Jim is survived by two sons, Roger of Phoenix, AZ and David of Los Angeles, CA; a granddaughter, Camilla of Nashville, TN; Jim Jr.'s sons, Justin of Los Angeles, CA and Michael of Tampa, FL and their mother, Jan Aikin-Taylor; a sister, Rosemary Middleton; niece & nephews, Janet, Curt and Rob; as well as devoted friend, Gloria Collins.
Visitation will begin at 1:00pm Tuesday, May 15, 2018 followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
