Jane was born in Oakdale, LA and grew up in Jacksonville, FL. She attended Peace College in Raleigh, NC. In August, 1946, Jane Gillespie married David Archibald. Jane and David were married for 65 years. They lived in Jacksonville, Dallas, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and retired to Pensacola in 1981. Jane had many hobbies, including cooking, sewing, bicycle riding, and travel with her husband. She and David were active in the First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola. Jane's love of family, cheerfulness, and ever-present smile will continue to give strength to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, and her parents, John and Nell Gillespie.

She is survived by her three children, David Archibald Jr., Janie Williams (Jimmy), and John Archibald (Dodie), as well as grandchildren, James Williams (Corrie), Katie Baucom (Brian), Sarah Archibald-Song (Paul), and Mary Archibald. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Maeve Williams, Ruth Williams, and Jackson Baucom. She is also survived by her sister, Ludie Stokes, and four nieces and nephews, Nelle Stokes, Sterling Archibald Henderson, Tommy Archibald, and Fred Rudolph.

Jane's family wishes to express particular gratitude to her loyal and loving caregiver, Pat Kea. In addition, we are grateful for the loving guidance and steadfast support of Brenda Basford, Administrator of WillowBrooke Court at Azalea Trace, Jane and David's home for so many years. Finally, special thanks to the whole Azalea Trace family who took such good care of Jane.

A service in celebration of Jane's life will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola, Reverend Sterling Archibald Henderson officiating.
