Jane Elmer Bruce, 77, of Pensacola, FL passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, peacefully in her sleep. Her artistic talents will be forever longed for by her friends and family, but her beauty lives on in her creations.

Jane was an obvious talent from a very young age, with art being her favorite subject in school. Her accomplished mediums included, but were not limited to, paint, textiles, sculpture, music, and the culinary arts. Jane will always be remembered for her amazing cooking!

Jane studied the arts at Bennington College in Vermont and the Boston Conservatory and then went on to pursue a master's degree in psychology from Georgia State University.

Once she graduated, Jane's free spirit went into various fields throughout her life, including becoming a riding instructor as horses were always a huge part of her life. Her talents were so diverse that she never stopped learning and picking up new skillful hobbies at every turn and then mastering them with ease. Her loss is truly and deeply felt by all who loved her.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Elmer, Sr. and Lavern (Kulhanek) Elmer; as well as her older brother, Richard Elmer, Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Lt Col Walter J. Costello, USMC (Ret.); son, Joe Bruce; daughter, Joie Lane; her brother, Charles Elmer and sister, Elaine Elmer.

A private interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date.
