IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Pace
Clark
September 29, 1967 – March 16, 2025
Jane Pace Clark, 57, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose warmth, grace and optimism were a testament to her abiding Christian faith, died Sunday, March 16, 2025, after a fearless, 16-month battle against cancer.
Janie's life centered around her husband of 36 years, Tal; their son and daughter, Pace and Peyton; and for the past three years, the unceasing joy of three grandchildren, Clark, Cam and Brooks.
A Pensacola native, Janie attended Pensacola Junior College and the University of West Florida before marrying Tal, a Marine whose first duty station was at the New River base in Jacksonville, NC. She completed college at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and began teaching.
Janie and Tal moved in 1993 from Jacksonville to Dothan, AL, where he began his career in private business and both their children were born. After a brief stay in the San Francisco Bay Area, they moved to Memphis, TN, for nearly two decades. Returning to her hometown in 2016, they lived on Pensacola Beach, providing Janie with the opportunity to reconnect with family and old friends and make numerous new friends.
A lover of sports, Janie was an excellent tennis player who spent many happy hours practicing and competing with her Greater Pensacola Ladies Tennis League team. She was equally enthusiastic about working out.
Janie found strength in her struggle to overcome cancer through her faith in God, the warmth and comfort of Upper Room Church on Pensacola Beach and family and friends. The family also is grateful to physicians at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where she participated in cutting-edge research that will help other patients.
Janie is preceded in death by her father, James Gustavus Pace Jr., and her mother, Jane Smith Pace.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Talmadge Clark; her son, Pace Talmadge Clark; her daughter, Peyton Clark McGee, and her husband, Kyle; her grandchildren, Derek Clark McGee, Howard Camden McGee and Brooks Walton McGee; as well as her brother, Stephen Pace.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, March 21, 2025, at Upper Room Church, with Pastor Nathan Pooley officiating. A reception will follow the service. A private family interment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Upper Room Church, 920 Panferio Dr., Pensacola Beach, FL 32561.
