Our beloved Jane Hubbard passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in Pensacola, FL following a brief battle with cancer. She was 82 years old. Jane was born in Hackensack, NJ on April 11, 1932. Growing up, she and her sister Virginia (Ginny) loved playing in the Apple Orchards of the family farm, Tice Farms. The family later moved to Blue Field, WV, where Jane graduated from Beaver High School in 1950. After high school, Jane attended Brenau Academy in Gainesville, GA. She married her husband of 37 years, Franklin Miller Hubbard, of Leaksville, NC, in 1951. Jane and Frank moved to Pensacola in 1953, where they both began careers with the newly opened Chemstrand (Monsanto). While Frank remained with Monsanto for the next 34 years until his death in 1987, Jane left the company after only a few years to raise their children. In 1968, they moved to Gulf Breeze, the community Jane loved with all her heart. In 1972, Jane began a highly successful career in real estate, starting at Family Homes Realty in Gulf Breeze and retiring with Century 21/The Richardson Agency in 2009. Jane's career complemented her passion for people and her endless energy for helping others. Jane was FUN, always smiling, vibrant and full of life. "Dull" was not in her vocabulary and black not in her wardrobe. She never met a stranger and easily made friends everywhere she went. After her retirement, she would spend most days in her big blue Cadillac cruising the streets of Gulf Breeze, visiting with her many friends at the bank, the pharmacy, the grocery store and other local favorite stops. She loved Pensacola Beach and her favorite place in the world was the beach house on Ariola Drive she and Frank purchased in 1972. Jane will be missed by her family, friends and the Gulf Breeze community at large. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Fred and Kay Van Riper and her sister, Ginny Morris. She is survived by her son, Van; daughters, Casey Rodgers (Jim) and B.J. Greer (Ron) and grandchildren, Maggie, Hannah, Rachel and Jillian; and also her beloved brother-in-law and friend, John R. Morris; nephews, Van Morris, Jam Morris and Willie Hubbard; and nieces, Lee Morris Birdsong, Barbara Hubbard Larry and Bonnie Hubbard. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church, her church of more than 40 years. Following the service, the Celebration will continue at the home of Jane's close friends, Jean and Gordon Gibson in Gulf Breeze. Jane's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Luis Navas at the Medical Center Clinic and Covenant Hospice (Joyce Goldenberg Residence) for their excellent care and concern for Jane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church-Jane V. Hubbard Youth Ministry Memorial Fund, 100 Andrew Jackson Trail, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561.
