Jane "Jandy" H.
Watkins
September 2, 1946 – February 13, 2026
The Rev. Jane H. Watkins “Jandy”, retired Episcopal priest, 79 years old, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026. She was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. A graduate of Southern Methodist University in 1968, she began adult life as a third-grade teacher in Waukegan, IL. where she met her husband, John Watkins, with whom she moved to Dallas, TX in 1973.
While raising children as a stay at home mom, she was active in her community working on the Homeowners’ board, helping get the Federal Government to change the location of a Section Eight housing project to a more accessible location, working with children suffering from cancer, and working with a group of parents and doctors who started the Camp for Kids With Cancer where she participated for three years. Feeling the call to ordained ministry in the early 1980s, she pursued the educational and service requirements until ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1990. She served at several churches in the Dallas area and moved to Pensacola with her husband in 2003 after receiving a call from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where she served for nine years before retiring.
Jandy is survived by her husband, John Watkins; a son, Andrew; a daughter Nena; and four grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 850 N Blue Angel Pkwy, Pensacola, FL 32506.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Her family expresses their appreciation for the fine care she received from staff at Willowbrooke Court at Azalea Trace and Emerald Coast Hospice.
