Obituary

On Thursday, November 8, 2018 Jane Oberhausen, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and friends at Covenant Hospice at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, Varnell Bramlette and mother, Irma Bramlette.

Jane leaves behind her devoted husband of 59 years, George Kenneth Oberhausen of Pensacola; brother, Gary (Christine) Bramlette of Pensacola; son, Douglas Oberhausen of Pensacola; son, Michael Oberhausen of Pensacola and grandchildren, Ryan and Rylee of Pensacola; daughter, Pam (Dave) Crowe and grandson, Austin of Wentzville, MO; daughter, Sallie (Gerry) Guerra and grandsons Gerry and George of Chesterfield, MO.

Jane was born on October 25, 1940 in Rome, GA and as an infant moved to Pensacola where she was raised in a modest home on the shore of the Grand Lagoon. Jane frequently recalled her upbringing on the water with great fondness.

Ken and Jane were married on October 16, 1959 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church and shared many wonderful years of love, happiness and adventure as they raised their four children. They were also blessed with five grandchildren whom they thoroughly enjoyed and adored together.

During the 35 years her husband worked for Monsanto, the couple lived for 10 years in Pensacola, FL 13 years in St. Louis, MO, 6 years in Brussels, Belgium, and 6 more years in St. Louis. Jane embraced her move to Belgium and enjoyed travel with her family and with new friends she made as a member of the American Women's Club. In St. Louis, Jane enjoyed the lifelong friends who also moved with Monsanto from Pensacola. She also volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital for many years.

Upon returning to Pensacola after retirement in 1993, Jane enjoyed rekindling relationships from her youth and making new ones while playing golf with the Marcus Pointe Ladies Golf Association (she even scored a hole-in-one).

Everyone who knew Jane loved her and enjoyed her warm outgoing personality and dry, witty humor. She always put her family first and was a caring and loyal friend. Jane will be deeply missed by many, but especially by her devoted husband.

Special thanks to all friends and family who supported and cared for Jane during her battle with Multiple Glioblastoma, as well as to the medical staff of The Woodlands Cancer Center, Sacred Heart Hospital, First Light Home Health Services and Covenant Hospice.

A visitation will be held from 10:00am until the Memorial Mass being celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. A private family internment service will be held at a later time.
