IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Aikin
Patterson
April 23, 1937 – April 12, 2023
Jane Aikin Patterson, 85, passed away peacefully at Azalea Trace, her home in Pensacola, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, with her husband, Pat, and son, Mac at her side. Jane had a long struggle with the debilitating effects of Parkinson's disease but responded with unbelievable grace, inspiring all who knew her.
Born and raised in Mobile, AL, and continuing her education at Auburn University, Jane created beauty in everything she touched including her extensive and vibrant gardens, her home with constantly rearranged furniture, and her personal relationships with family and friends. Wherever she went, love flourished. Jane was fiercely independent and will always be fondly remembered by her family for giving away her husband's dog (twice) and purchasing a fixer-upper home while he was out of town for work. That house quickly became the central gathering place for countless family events, where the grandchildren enjoyed water activities, learned to water ski, and so many beautiful memories were made.
Jane has spent much of her life devoted to the community at Trinity Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, the President of Presbyterian Women, taught Sunday School and many other activities of service to the church and the community. Her commitment to God and to her church was recognized by all, and she was honored with the Presbyterian Women's Honorary Life Membership Award. She was a long-time worker at the United Ministries mission serving homeless and disadvantaged people in our community. She formed lifelong relationships with many friends in her bridge club, and Garden Club.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise Aikin; her brother, John Aikin; her sister, Louise Russell; and her daughter, Jane (Ken) Patterson Drinkard.
She is remembered by Pat Patterson, her devoted husband of 66 years; her son, Mac and his wife, Sandy of Tampa, FL; her son, Bill and his wife, Sandy of Pensacola Beach; her son-in-law, Jeff Drinkard of Pensacola; her grandchildren, Jimmy Patterson, Jessica (Ben) Crook, Talor Stone, and Logan (Devon) Drinkard; her great-grandchildren, Avery, Bear, Jaxon, and Colson; her sister, Sue (Ferd) Zundel and many more family and friends whose lives she touched.
Jane's life of love, service, and beauty will be celebrated 10:00am Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully served the church community for decades. For those who wish, the service will be live streamed. Live Stream link: https://youtube.com/live/dBrcFeYzpbw
