IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Rooks
Rollins
December 1, 1931 – December 29, 2018
Jane Rooks-Rollins was born in Pensacola, Florida on December 1, 1931. She was a lifelong resident of the city she loved. Her mother Adele Herring raised her on Herring Lane with her four sisters. As the oldest, she helped care for her sisters, earning the lifelong nickname "Sarge". Jane enjoyed a wonderful life devoted to God, her family, and her business. She made her transition to her heavenly home on December 29, 2018.
She attended St. Stephen's and graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School in 1949. She married Tom Rooks and became the mother to two wonderful children. In 1969, Tom and Jane, along with Coot and Diane Johnson, converted Johnson-Rooks Marina into the Marina Oyster Barn. After Tom's death, Jane became the owner and heart of the restaurant. She was affectionately known by her employees and loyal customers as Ms. Jane or Hurricane Jane.
The majority of her time was spent working at the Marina Oyster Barn, working the lunch and dinner shifts until she was 85 years old. She has been a devout and faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church for over 50 years and a member of St. Augustine Circle. She spent nearly all of her free time doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jane is preceded in death by her mother, Adele Herring; her late husband, Tom Rooks; her sister, Judy Bane and her brother-in-law, Lester Lintz.
She is survived by her husband, Reed Rollins; her children, Dale Rooks (Terri) and Raynee Bouillion (Barry); her grandchildren, Brynn Milliner (Lee), Tyler Choat (Carley), Jenna Rooks, Kimberly Rooks, and Madeleine Bouillion; her great-grandchildren, Anslee and Emme Jane Milliner, Colt Choat, and Rowan Rooks; her sisters, Joan Gormley, Jackie Lintz, Rachel Maiellaro (Ed) and her brother-in-law, Don Bane; along with numerous nieces and nephews and her two bonus daughters and friends Eva Young and Mary Connor.
