Obituary

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! -Psalms 118:24.

Jane Copelan Weekley, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019.

She was born in Atlanta, GA on June 1, 1935, to Comer "Bo" and Margaret Copelan. The family moved to Pensacola, FL in 1944. Jane graduated from Pensacola High School and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. She married Kenneth L. Weekley on February 26, 1955 at First United Methodist Church in Pensacola. Jane was blessed with three daughters, Karen W. McLeod (Mike), Kim C. Weekley (Sandra), and Kaye W. Westmark (Scott); four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Jane was an active member of First United Methodist Church for 75 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher for 56 years, Elementary Coordinator for 4 years, Youth Coordinator for 10 years, member of the Alabama-Northwest Florida Conference of the United Methodist Women for 56 years, serving as President at the local, District, and Conference levels, Chair of the Council on Ministries and Administrative Board, member of the Membership, Stewardship, and Staff-Parrish Relations Committees, the Older Adult Council, and the Good Shepherd Ministry.

Jane was a passionate advocate for women and children. She served the community by volunteering for 10 years with Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, 15 years with Girl Scouts of NW FL, 10 years with Manna Food Bank, 5 years with the Youth Motivation Mentor Program, Adult Sewing classes at Goulding Elementary School, 10 years to the Interfaith Jail Ministry, Meals on Wheels, and Wesley Haven Assisted Living Facility.

Jane enjoyed playing games, knitting and sewing, fishing, tennis, and RV camping, especially with family.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ken; her daughters, Karen W. McLeod (Mike), Kim C. Weekley (Sandra Chester), and Kaye W. Westmark (Scott); her grandchildren, Jennifer Dannelly (Jeff), Sarah Paulk (William), Valerie Virgilio (Joseph), James Westmark (Alexis, fiancé); great grandchildren Grayson & Harper Dannelly, Sydney & Brooklyn Paulk; sister-in-law Audrey Baldwin, brother-in-law Raymond Weekley, brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Elaine Williams; many beloved nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and a host of good friends.

Among many other things, Jane will be remembered for her ability to connect with other people and lift them up, her humor, her service to others, and her faithfulness.

Well done, good and faithful servant.

Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Henry Roberts officiating. Reception will follow in the Wright Place.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Living Trust, Jane C. Weekley College Scholarship Fund at First United Methodist Church, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, Manna Food Bank, or Milk and Honey Outreach Ministries.
