Obituary

Janet Walker Greenblatt, 98, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017at The Waterford at Carpenter's Creek. She was born Janet Lorraine Walker in Mimico, Canada on July 18, 1918. She lived across North Florida and South Georgia, graduating from Blountstown, FL High School and often remarked that every boy in her class was killed in World War II. Janet went on to attend and graduate from Nursing school at Pensacola Hospital, Class of 1941, the last class before it became Sacred Heart Hospital. While her husband, Emanuel "Pete" Greenblatt served in WW II, she was a civilian nurse for both the Army and Navy, before returning to Pensacola and doing private duty nursing.

Later she became involved in the business they started (Dixie Cleaners) and was instrumental in it's success. She was devoted to her family and loved her church, First United Methodist, where she was a member since 1947. In later years, she enjoyed traveling and especially Florida Gator football.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Emanuel "Pete" Greenblatt and her son, Joseph Edward Greenblatt.

She is survived by her son, William "Bill" Greenblatt and his wife, Patti Jordan of Pensacola and their children, grandchildren and a great grandson.


Private family services will be held at a later date and burial will be in Bayview Memorial Park.
