Janet Wenona Reid Zambuto, 77, of Pensacola passed away Monday, September 2, 2013. A native of Washington D.C., Janet was a federal employee for 36 years, starting in the Congressional Secretary pool for Freshman Senator John F. Kennedy and finishing her career with the US Army at Fort Bliss, TX. As a member of the Belles and Beaux volunteer Sr. Singers Group, Janet performed locally for many years. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 49 years, Edward Zambuto; daughter, Maria Zambuto; sister, Juanita Parker and her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Reid. She is survived by her sister, Josephine (Leonard-deceased) Higgins; brother, James (Maria) Reid; son, "Tony" (Sandra) Zambuto and daughter, Heather (Jeremiah) McCabe. Her family was her greatest joy consisting of 8 grandchildren Paul (Erica) Vasquez, Joseph Vasquez, Edward Zambuto, Amanda Zambuto, Lisa Zambuto, Makayla McCabe, Kelly McCabe and Connor McCabe; 2 later additions to the family, Luisa Juarez and Alexa Lewkowicz as well as 2 great grandchildren, Baylinn and Paul Vazquez Jr. Other important members to Janet were her oldest nephew, Reid (Regina) Parker whom she considered her oldest son and their 2 daughters, Christina and Catherine Parker; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A Celebration of her life will be held Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in Pensacola. Visitation will be held from 5-6pm with services directly following. Interment services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.
