Janice V. Palmer, 87, of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, at home.

Janice was born on March 17, 1939, in Clanton, AL, to Guthrie and Onnie Vines. In 1981, Janice and her husband relocated from Mississippi to Pensacola, FL, where together they founded Sunbelt Equipment Rentals, Inc. Her exceptional skills in real estate, bookkeeping, and accounting were instrumental to the company’s success. Janice devoted many years of dedicated service to the business until her retirement in 2002.

Janice embraced life with grace, warmth, and a spirit of adventure. She was a member of Aphrodite, Maids of Luna, and the Fiesta Frolickers, and proudly served as a Past Court Attendant for the Krewe of Lafitte. She especially loved traveling and experiencing the beauty of different cultures, visiting destinations such as Greece, Germany, China, Turkey, and Hawaii throughout her life.

Above all, Janice will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Elige Palmer; her daughter, Karen Rayfield; and her siblings, Pauline Barrett, Louie Vines, Charles Vines, Louise Adams, and Aline Adams.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Teresa Lemond; her grandchildren, Keli Hicks Jaquish, Jeremy Ryan Hicks (Brooke), and John Byrd (Michelle); and her cherished great-grandchildren, Laci Hicks, Kash Jaquish, and Tucker Byrd. She also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

A visitation will be held from 11:30am until a funeral service begins at 12:30pm Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Charles Elliott officiating. A private family interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, where Janice will be laid to rest with her beloved husband.

Pallbearers will be Ashley Abrams, Barron Abrams, Alan Adams, Ryan Hicks, Christopher Russell, and Kirk Abrams.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Waterfront Rescue Mission, 350 Herman St., Pensacola, FL 32505 or to the Pensacola Humane Society, 5 N. Q St., Pensacola, FL 32505, reflecting Janice’s enduring commitment to kindness, compassion, and serving her community.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to STAT Home Health, Emerald Coast Hospice, and Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Their support and service are sincerely appreciated.
