Jean "Jeannie" Bowen Price, 63, died peacefully at her home on Innerarity Point, FL on September 13, 2014 after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. Jeannie was born March 18, 1951 in Montgomery, AL to Jean B. Price and the late L.W. Price, Jr. of Evergreen, AL. After graduating Evergreen High School in 1969, Jeannie attended Gulf Park College for Women in Gulfport, MS and The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and graduated the University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Jeannie had many talents, especially art, music and gardening. She was creative, imaginative and possessed a wonderful sense of humor. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing, boating, and water skiing. She was passionate about wildlife, and worked to rescue and rehabilitate animals, especially dogs and lost or injured carrier pigeons. She was compassionate, generous, and loyal. She was a loving daughter, mother, sister and friend. She had an unwavering faith in God her entire life and became a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in 2011. Jeannie is survived by her sons, Samuel McPherson (Brenda) Cook, Jr. and John Roan Cook; a grandson, Samuel Rikard Cook; her mother, Jean B. Price; three sisters, Susan (Tom) Garth, Nancy (Duncan) Greenwood, and Shelby Dukes and a brother, Leonard "Len" W. Price, III; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, September 21, 2014 in Magnolia Cemetery in Evergreen, AL with Cope Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Catholic Charities, the Humane Society of Pensacola or a charity of choice.
