Jeanne Marie Blaszczyk, 90, passed peacefully of natural causes on Saturday, November 20, 2021 in Pensacola, FL with her family by her side.
Jeanne was the beloved mother of Lynn M. Brown (Charles), Leigh A. Krikava (Jerry), Jeffrey J. Blaszczyk, Thomas S. Blaszczyk (deceased) and Timothy F. Blaszczyk; grandmother of Leah (Rand), Laurel (Troy), Janel, Lisa, Micah (Rachael), Sean, Jessica (deceased) Alex (Rebecca) and Brittany, sister to Shirley Summerfield (deceased), Jim Walz, Bill Walz (deceased) and her 8 great grandchildren.
Jeanne was born November 6, 1931 in Burlington, IA to John Walz Jr. and Madeline (Brune) Walz. After spending her early childhood years there, her family settled in Kalamazoo, MI, where she completed her high school education at St. Augustine. She then attended Western Michigan University, where she met and later married, Kenneth G. Blaszczyk (deceased).
She was a strong, independent woman with a sharp intellect, raising her five children, while also working outside the home. Most notably, she worked for Delta Air Lines as a reservations agent which enabled her to travel extensively. She discovered the joy of exploring the world and over the years traveled throughout the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Jeanne's faith as a devout Catholic was at the center of her life. She will be missed by the other faithful church volunteers who met regularly to fold the bulletins and serve funeral meals whenever needed. Jeanne was an avid reader and music lover. She had a passion for playing games especially for Bridge and Scrabble. Many happy hours were spent enjoying games with her children, grandchildren and lifelong friends she made over the years. Jeanne was beloved by many and will be deeply missed by her entire family and her many friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be held 9:00am until a Memorial Mass is celebrated at 9:30am, Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 601 West Laurel Ave., Foley, AL 36535.
