Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeannie Michelle Calvit, 73, of Pensacola, FL, on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

A proud Pensacola native, Jeannie Michele was the first baby girl born in Pensacola on January 1, 1952. A natural talent for floral arrangements and decor was always present throughout her personal and professional life. Her flair for making holidays and birthdays special was cherished by her family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Known for her ever-open heart in rescuing dogs and cats - a recurring motif throughout her lifetime. She always had a pet by her side.

Early in life she raised her 2 children, Layne & Scott alongside first husband, Max in Rome, GA, creating many memories and lifelong friendships while cultivating her love of floral arraignments and decor in the Rome Garden Club. On February 14, 1992, Jeannie Michelle married her forever love, Dr. Thomas Barry Calvit, at the All Faiths Chapel on NAS Pensacola and held their reception at Mustin Beach Officer's Club. This marked the beginning of their 11-year adventure in the Navy with duty stations in Hawaii, California, Florida, Japan, Maryland, and North Carolina. Post Navy, Jeannie Michelle & Barry settled down in her hometown of Pensacola, FL. In 2007, she completed a lifelong spiritual journey towards the Catholic Faith and was confirmed at St. Paul Catholic Church in Pensacola with family in attendance.

She is preceded in death by her parents; father, Jack Stanford Glover and mother, Betty Jean Suarez, raised by both grandmother Levada Lewis & Uncle Charlie Lewis, who was affectionally referred to as Daddy and his wife, Eunice; Aunt Anne and Uncle Bill Solice.

Jeannie Michelle is survived by her husband, Dr. Thomas Barry Calvit; daughter, Layne Michelle Scoggins (Lang); son, Scott Michael Norman (Yvonne); grandchildren, Luke Scoggins (Ruthanne), Robby Scoggins (Emily), Kemi Scoggins, Doyle Caudell, and Micheal Caudell (Jennifer); great grand grandchildren, Laurel Scoggins, Savannah, Dylan, and Brooklyn Caudell; her niece, Heather Barona (Fed); nephew, Jamie Holley (Angela); first husband & lifelong friend, Max Norman; sister, Victoria Lewis Danks; brothers, Sam and Mike Glover; her cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and many dear friends.
