Jenelle Pierce Kizziah of Pensacola, FL, died Friday, May 27, 2022 at the age of 88.
She was born on November 15, 1933 in Andalusia, AL to the late Ralph and Mildred Pierce. Jenelle received her BS degree from Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University. She was a resident of Pensacola for 65 years. She was an educator for thirty-three years teaching first and second grade at Myrtle Grove Elementary School the entire time. She was elected Teacher of the Year by her peers. She met her husband, John W. (Bill) Kizziah on a blind date in May 1959 and they were married in December 1959. She loved her church, her family and her friends. She taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church, volunteered in the Samaritan Hands ministry for over twenty years and was a charter member of the Friendship Sunday School class. Jenelle belonged to the Fidelis Nu chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa where she held many offices, including President.
Jenelle is survived by her husband, John W of sixty-two years; a brother, Foy Pierce of Canton, GA; two daughters, Jan Thompson (Jeffrey, deceased) of Pensacola, FL and Jill Wilson (Charlie) of Aliceville, AL; a son, John M Kizziah (Lori) of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Addison Rentschler (John) of Birmingham, AL, Kathryn Kizziah of Pensacola, FL, Allie Wilson of Aliceville, AL, Taylor Kizziah of Pensacola, FL, Charlie Pierce Wilson of Aliceville, AL, and Abigail Thompson of Pensacola, FL and one great granddaughter, Ada Rentschler of Birmingham, AL.
Jenelle was so proud of the fact that all her children and grandchildren had accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Jenelle had many close friends and enjoyed playing bridge with two groups that spanned more than fifty years. The family would like to thank Azalea Trace for the wonderful continuing care experience.
Services to honor Jenelle's life will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at First Baptist Church Pleitz Chapel, beginning with a visitation at 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Her son-in-law, the Rev. Charlie Wilson and her Pastor, Dr. Dave Snyder will officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Samaritan Hands Ministry or the Mission First Building Project of First Baptist Church, 500 N. Palafox St., Pensacola, FL 32501.
