Obituary

James Henderson "Jim" Dickerson, 68 of Pensacola, FL passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

He was born in Columbia, TN on May 4, 1955. He grew up in Pensacola and graduated high school from the Pensacola Academy of Arts and Sciences where he excelled in basketball. He first attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC and later graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of West Florida. He started working for Weyerhaeuser in New Orleans and then transferred to Baton Rouge.

In 1986 he returned to Pensacola to be back with family and work alongside his father at the family business, Building Supply Center. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, The Rotary Club of Pensacola, Fiesta of Five Flags and was a knight in the court of 2000, the Order of Tristan, Rebellaires, and longtime member of Hit N Miss hunting club. He was an avid golfer, a star athlete for Seville Quarter Super Stars, a Florida State Seminoles and New Orleans Saints fan, and enjoyed weekly dinners with his children and spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite place to be was either at the family beach house in Navarre or relaxing in his recliner next to the warmth of his fireplace.

He is preceded in death by his father, Furnie Ormond "Dick" Dickerson and his mother, Katherine Henderson "Kit" Dickerson.

He is survived by his four children, Laura Dees, Jamie Dickerson, Ashley Rodriguez (Nick), and Andy Dickerson; his four grandchildren, Evan and Nina Dees and Olivia and Charlotte Rodriguez; his siblings, Beth Yon (David), Jane Renfroe (Jake), Kate Major (Hal), and William Dickerson (Jane Suzanne); as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Our Dad was a loving and selfless father, a devoted grandfather, and a wonderful brother and uncle. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.

A memorial service will be held 11:00am Monday, December 4, 2023, at Christ Episcopal Church, with Fr. Michael Hoffman officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be: David Yon, Hal Major, Jake Renfroe, Nick Rodriguez, MacGruber and Cousin Eddie.
