James "Jim" Francis Doneghey, Jr., 75, of Pensacola, FL passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 14, 2021.

Jim was born on September 25, 1946, in Jamaica Plain, MA to Eleanor Morin and James Francis Doneghey, Sr. He grew up in West Roxbury, MA, graduating from Roslindale High School, where he was the quarterback of the Roslindale High football team. After high school, Jim joined the Army Reserves where he served from 1964-1970.

Math always came easy to Jim. After high school and some post-secondary education, he passed the required exams to earn his securities licenses and began a 20-year career in the brokerage industry, first with Paine Webber and then Lehman Brothers. In 1986, Jim moved to the South, spending several years in Atlanta and Sarasota before moving to Pensacola in 2004. In both Sarasota and Pensacola, Jim worked as a licensed real estate professional, first with Coldwell Banker and then Connell and Manziek after moving to Pensacola.

Throughout his life, Jim was a lover of all things sports. As an adult he played competitive softball. He also coached multiple sports teams over the years, including his softball team as player/manager, as well as his children's and grandchildren's hockey, baseball, and football teams. He was happiest when he was attending his family's sporting events, cheering them on and sharing in their athletic endeavors. Jim was also a man of deep faith who had a soft spot for the less fortunate. For many years he was involved in foster care and the children's Sunday school ministry at his local church. On weekends, you could always find Jim cheering on his favorite sports teams. He was a wonderful husband, a good friend to all and a loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Joann Davis Doneghey; four children, Michael Doneghey (Lori), Kristin Roche (Sean), Fred Doneghey, and George Doneghey; step-daughter, Darlene McCranie (Chad); seven grandchildren, Haley, Christian, Casey, David, Brendan, Emma, and Alex; brothers, Larry Doneghey (Theresa) and Ken Doneghey; as well as other extended family.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced.
