James Homer "Jim" Matthews, 79, of Pensacola, FL passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Jim was born September 10, 1941 in Sevierville, TN and worked for Shaw Industries for over 46 years. He served his country honorably in the US Army for six years. He enjoyed playing the piano and spent many weekends playing with his band in clubs across Nashville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William O. & Mabel Price Matthews; his brother, James Earl Matthews and sister, Wanda Matthews Regan.

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Matthews of Pensacola, FL; son, Kevin Matthews of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Lisa Robertson (Joe) of Pensacola, FL; granddaughters, Kassi Rhea (Daniel) of Florida, Bayli Wilson (Lincoln) of Athens, TN, and Kylea Matthews of Madisonville, TN; grandsons, Logan Vaughn and Kolby Matthews of Pensacola, FL; great-grandchildren, Ryli, Preston, and Alexa Rhea of Florida, Bonnie Lou Wilson of Athens, TN.

A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00noon Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the home of Joe and Lisa Robertson, 361 Co. Rd. 651, Athens, TN. Graveside Service will be held 11:30am Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Gov. John Sevier Hwy., Knoxville, TN with Rev. Brad Robertson officiating.
