Jimmy "Jim" Dean Smith, 72, of Pensacola, FL died on May 5, 2017. Jim was born in Chester, SD to Leslie Lamond and Dorothy Lenora Smith. He was the youngest brother of eight children. Jim served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Jim worked in the propane business in Illinois, Florida and Wyoming for more than 40 years. He retired and relocated to Florida in 2007. He then worked at the Santa Rosa Community Clinic in Milton for six years.
Jim is survived by his wife and best friend of 30 years, Dana; his four children, Donny (Cody) Hodson, Lori (Brad) Wildermuth, Jennifer (Jacob) Reyes and Jacqulyn (Nathan) Elmore. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brandon, Emily, Bradley, Michael, Isabelle, Lillian, and one great-grandchild, Carter; as well as one sister, Lorena Carlson, his beloved nephew, Dallas Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 5:00pm until a Memorial Service to begin at 6:00pm Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Ken Griffin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Partners in Hope Foundation ((800) 805-5856 or pihsupportstjude.orq), the charity closest to Jim's heart. In time, Jim's ashes will be scattered together with his wife's in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming, their true and beloved home.
