It is with profound sadness to announce Joan A. Gormley passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital the morning of Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the age of 89.
She was born on November 11, 1933, to Adele Briggs Herring & Aloise Vincent Herring, Jr. Joan was a graduate of Catholic High School and later went on to receive a bachelor's degree from the University of West Florida in Business Communications, with a Human Resource secondary. She worked as an administrator for local utility companies and medical firms. She finished her career as the Database Manager for the Navy and Marine Corp Aviation Training Group located in Pensacola, FL. Joan loved cooking, good wine, interior decorating, exercising, and reading good books. Her life-long love of learning included completing on-line courses in conversational Spanish, Italian, and French, as well as Stocks, Bonds, Investment, and Art History.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jane Rooks Rollins and Judy Bane; as well as the father of her children, John D. Gormley, USMC (ret.).
Survivors include her sons, Mark Gormley and Paul Gormley; sisters, Jackie Lintz and Rachel Maiellaro (Ed); a brother-in-law, Don Bane; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
A private family graveside will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, with Deacon Richard Lurton officiating.
