Joan Patricia Smith, 82, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, August 27, 2017 surrounded by her family. Joan was born in New York City, and has resided in Pensacola, Florida for 31 years. She was an elementary education teacher in Virginia Beach, VA. She was a devout Catholic and proud navy wife. Joan enjoyed traveling with Jack, her best friend and husband of 60 years, including many trips to their beloved Ireland, sharing their Irish heritage. Joan enjoyed spending time and being an amazing host at her Pensacola Beach home with family and many visiting relatives. Her smile, laughter, and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed. Her beautiful soul is in heaven and we can't wait to see her again.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Hartigan, brother Billy Finn, and her mother and father, Marge and Edward Finn.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Smith; daughters, Margaret Smith, Patricia Bach (Paul), Maureen Prendergast (John); two sons, Peter and Edward Smith (Catherine); grandchildren, Bob, Tyler, and Maureen Bach; Cates, Averie, and Emma Smith; and Darcy Prendergast; her sister, Elizabeth Dowling and brothers, Edward Finn (Linda) and Robert Finn (Helena).

Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart at 10:30 am Friday, September 8, 2017 followed by a noon burial at Barrancas National Cemetery.
