Joann D. Riddlebarger, age 82, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Joann was born on May 31, 1938 in Montgomery Alabama to the late Andrew Clay and Minnie Cornelia Fontaine Davis. In addition to her parents Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Devereaux Riddlebarger; three brothers, Laurell David, Clay Davis, Jr. and Harold Davis; a sister, Frances Till.
Joann met her future husband to be, Devereaux Riddlebarger, at the age of 14. They were married on December 18, 1954 and were happily married for 52 wonderful years. Joann was a proud and dedicated Navy wife, moving all over the world as her husband proudly served his country. They were living in the Great Lakes when their first son, Joseph Riddlebarger was born. When their second son Gerry Riddlebarger was born, they were living in Hawaii. Along the way on they also lived in Washington D.C., Norfolk, VA, Jacksonville, FL and Pensacola, FL, each an adventure and filled with experiences that would fill a book.
Those left to cherish her memory include, her two sons, Joseph Riddlebarger, and his wife Linda, and Gerry Riddlebarger.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Joann D. Riddlebarger will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Barrancas National Cemetery, with Fred Funchess, Minister, officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made in Joann's name to The Humane Society of the United States 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 450, Washington DC, 20037.
