Obituary

Joanne Louise Jorgensen Gee, 77, resident of Pensacola, FL was born in Abington, PA, on January 22, 1945 to Alfred Christian Jorgensen, Sr and Valeria Rita Claire. Joanne was baptized as an infant and raised in the Lutheran church. She learned the catechism and developed a lifelong love for music. Her brother, Alfred (Chris) resides in Indialantic, FL.

Joanne graduated from Central Bucks High School (Doylestown, PA) in 1962 before attending Coker College (Hartsville, SC); graduating in three years with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1965.

As a young school teacher frequenting social gathering spots in Virginia Beach, she met a young Lieutenant, Charles Daniel Gee (Dan). A late afternoon spin in his new Corvette led to conversation, dinner, and a relationship that they quickly realized would last lifetime. Only a month later they were married -  forming an unshakable bond of love that lasted 47 years until his passing in 2015. Out of this union came three children, Eric (wife Lauren of Covington, LA); Amy (husband Colonel Jim Collins of Washington, DC); Jennifer of Pensacola, FL; and their lovely granddaughters;  Anna Claire and Erin Gee and Gretchen Collins.

As Navy wife, Joanne found opportunities to support each duty station Dan was assigned to. Whether teaching Sunday School, English as a second language to Japanese children, or learning how to train dogs with her dog school friends, Joanne was always eager to volunteer with a joyous heart. Joanne enjoyed entertaining and her meals were thoughtfully prepared with no detail overlooked. Playing music was Joanne's passion. She played the piano, church organ and guitar, and was always searching for a new instrument to enjoy.

Joanne dedicated herself to her friendships, lending her sense of humor and compassion to the lives of those she held most dear. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

On August 8, 2022, Joanne Louise Jorgensen Gee was called to her eternal rest, reuniting her with her loving husband Dan.
