IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joanne Vincent
Weiland
September 17, 1938 – July 30, 2023
Proud Pensacola native, Joanne Vincent Weiland, 84, was born into eternal life, Sunday, July 30, 2023, surrounded by her family. Joanne was born in Pensacola, FL, September 17, 1938, at the original Sacred Heart Hospital. She was the loving wife to Lee T. Weiland, Jr. for over 63 years.
Joanne was a 1956 graduate of Pensacola High School, where she played flute and piccolo in the band. All of her children and grandchildren were encouraged to play instruments. She loved classical music and enjoyed 30+ years with the Pensacola Civic Band later in life. Joanne and Lee were married in November 1959, after they met at a Naval Cadet dance. They went on to have four daughters, Amy, Patty, Claire and Jennifer. The Air Force took them throughout the world to New Jersey, Tennessee, San Antonio, Okinawa, and the Azores. In 1972, they moved back to Pensacola, where they have been members of Grace Lutheran Church for 51 years.
She worked many places, including First National Bank, Wilson Tax Service, UWF and was volunteer treasurer for the Pensacola Civic Band for over 30 years. Her most important position was manager of the Weiland family and the many activities of her four daughters. She was a Girl Scout leader for 14 years, Sunday School Superintendent, VBS volunteer, and band chaperone to name a few. She had a servant's heart and a quiet spirit. Many unique and special qualities encapsulate her personality. She loved travel, Bible study, choir, babies, hosting holidays, love pats, parades, craft shows, dogs (especially her own), roosters, chocolate and peanuts (but never together), popcorn, anything lemon, ice cream, close-talking, penny-smashing, and giving gifts, which always came with a story! She will be greatly missed by all who knew her!
Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Anna Vincent; sisters, Leona Andrews, Mathilda Murphy, and Elsie Wyman.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Weiland, Jr.; her four daughters, Amy (Jack) Onkka, Patty (Jeff) Wagner, Claire (Matt) Dolan, and Jennifer (Chris) Stegner; twelve grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Alex, Torry, Matthew, Erin, Abby, Luke, Phoebe, Andrew, Evan, Quinn; four great-grandchildren, Heidi, Alice, Addy, and Jacob. Many thanks to the devoted caregivers at The Blake and Emerald Coast Hospice.
