Obituary

Jodie Almand Howes, native of Atlanta, GA, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, after battling pancreatic cancer. True Jodie style, after 6 months of chemo she stopped all treatment and decided to let God decide how long she would have to live. Her last months were spent traveling and dining out with friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband and soul mate of 42 years, Rick Howes; her brother, Mike Almand; her brother, Chip Almand; and her parents, Charles and Joan Almand.

Jodie is survived by her brother, Pat Almand; her sister, Leslie Almand Reynolds (Jeff); her sisters-in-law, Valeria Almand and Terri Almand; her nephews, Nick (Neely) Almand, Dylan Almand, Matthew Reynolds and Michael Reynolds; her nieces, Meredith (Geoffrey) Turner, Alison (Tony) Minter, Courtney Almand and Lauryn Almand; great-nephews, Sean Almand and Sawyer Turner; and great-nieces, Brielle Turner and Clare Almand; Rick's children, Danny (Patti) Howes, Diane (Richard) Green and their children Gabrielle Howes, Mick Green and Holly Green. She maintained a close relationship with her sister-in-law, Elaine Strong and her family; Susan (Jeff) Hugel, David (Michelle) Strong, Sharon Strong, nephews Jacob (Sarah) Thomas, Andrew (Blair) Thomas, Craig (Alex) Thomas, Timothy Gradel and Carter Strong, nieces Lauren (Matt) Synder, Kristin Thomas, Stephanie Hugel, Adrienne (Jyoti) Strong-Das, Sarah Gradel and especially Shelley Gradel (Jess)

After spending 20 years in the banking industry both in Atlanta and Pensacola, Jodie got her Real Estate License in 1999. She and her husband Rick worked together at Coldwell Banker and then Levin Rinke Realty. Jodie was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Pensacola where she facilitated a Grief Share Program and numerous activities for the Widows program, New Journey.

Jodie loved to cook and took great joy in preparing meals for friends and family (especially her popular Rum Cake)! She loved to read, spend time at her family's lake house in North Carolina and meet friends for lunch.  Jodie did her best to bring a smile to the faces of everyone she encountered. Her little cat, Lucy, provided much comfort to her in the last 3 years.

A very special thank you to Vitas Healthcare and especially Heather and LeeAnne for taking such loving care of Jodie in her final weeks and providing invaluable support to Shelley and Jess as Jodie's caregivers.

A farewell gathering with fellowship and music will be held from 10:00am until a Memorial Service begins at 10:30am Friday, November 14, 2025, Hillcrest Baptist Church, 800 E 9 Mile Rd., Pensacola, FL, with Pastor Heath Wilson officiating.
