Joseph Franklin Cascone, 92, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
Joe was born in Pensacola FL to Captain Paul Cascone and Lavinia Gesilda Montebella Cascone on August 8, 1927.
Joe proudly served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged with the ending of WWII in 1945.
A lifetime native of Pensacola, Joe spent his entire career in the automotive industry beginning in the 1950's. He worked at Escambia Motor Co., Pensacola Buggy Works, Ernie Young Chevrolet, and Jarrod Motors. Most of his years were spent at Bob Salter/Sansing Chevrolet. He held several positions from sales to ultimately, general sales manager. His most recent "retirement" years were in sales with Vince Whibbs Automotive Group. Joe was dedicated to his field. He was named top in sales many times over, received numerous awards, was a member of the Society of Sales Executives as well as many others. Customer service was his mantra. His charm and wit added to each and every buying experience. Not only did he provide this experience, he demanded the utmost level of service from his team. "Joe Cascone" became a household name synonymous with the automotive needs of thousands of satisfied customers.
The love and kindness Joe had for his family and friends were unsurpassed. He never failed to tell you or exhibit his love and gratitude. From a firm handshake to the all so familiar "Italian kiss" on the cheek, everyone knew the special place you held in his heart. Joe also loved children beyond measure. His fun-loving ways endeared many young ones. He was most creative and always had some sort of activity up his sleeve for children. Goofy golf, playing on the trampoline, fishing, ice cream, or fair rides to name a few.
Joe was an avid golfer. He spent many an hour on some of the most prestigious golf courses in the Southeast. Golf was always part of any discussion including tip on clubs, swing or grip. Additionally, he loved playing pool and owned his own professional pool table hosting family and friends for a game of pool. Joe was considered a great pool player often demonstrating some of his signature trick shots. In the early years Joe could be seen playing pool with some of the greatest including Willie Mosconi.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Frances E. Ratliff, Theresa C. Wesley, Carmela Hargrave, and Eleanor L. Dunn; brothers, Johnnie A. Cascone, Michael Anthony Cascone, and Paul S. Cascone. Joe is also preceded in death by his wife, the mother of his children, Betty Ruth Shipman Cascone and his wife, Judy G. Cascone.
He is survived by his loving children, Betty Jo Etheridge (Dan) and Paul Cascone (Cindy), both of Pensacola; grandchildren, Melissa Enfinger (Scott) of Montgomery AL, Joseph Cascone of Pensacola, Nickolas Cascone (Katherine) of Milwaukee, WI, Michelle Mull (Jeff) of Pensacola, Bryan Etheridge (Brittany) of Pensacola; his sisters, Marie Chapel and Gloria Riley of Pensacola as well as many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Joe was of the Catholic faith. He loved the Lord and his church. Joe never failed to give thanks at each meal and taught everyone around him by example. Joe left this world a better place and now rests in the arm of Jesus surrounded by many others who have gone before us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Heart Assoc., American Cancer Society, Vitas Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
Due to COVID-19, a private service will be held. Entombment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are Bob Dunn, Lee Dunn, Joseph Cascone, Bryan Etheridge, Scott Guthrie, and Ron Riley.
