Reverend Joe H. Stovall, Jr., 91, of Pensacola, FL., passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

Reverend Stovall, a native of Clinton, MS, was born on January 21, 1927, son of Joe Henry Stovall, Sr. and May Loving Stovall. Joe was ordained as a minister at the age of 19 by the First Baptist Church of Clinton. He graduated from Clinton High School, received a BA degree from Mississippi College, Master of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Master of Theology and a Doctorate of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Following graduation from Southern Seminary, Joe was united in marriage to Kathleen Bush of Pinola, MS. They shared their lives for 68 years. They had one son, Joe Henry, III.

Reverend Stovall's ministry included serving as youth director at First Baptist Church, Memphis, TN and First Baptist Church, New Orleans, LA. His student pastorates in Mississippi were Carson Ridge and Holly Grove and Woodburn Baptist Church in Kentucky. Through a number of years, he was pastor of churches in Mississippi, including Rosedale, Flora, Lucedale, Parkhill, Strong River, Barefoot Springs and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mobile. For Fourteen years, he served as chaplain at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. In retirement, he became a volunteer chaplain at the Central Mississippi Medical Center.

His favorite hymn was "All the Way My Savior Leads Me. John 14 and Psalm 17 were his favorite scripture verses.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years; son, Joe Henry Stovall III (Ann Blair Thomas Stovall), of Pensacola; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Bush of Birmingham, AL; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private graveside service will be held at Clinton Cemetery, Clinton, MS.
