Joelle Reese Gibson, 81, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
She was born on May 10, 1942, in Columbus, OH, to the late Robert Clendenning Reese and Mary Douglas Reese. Joelle was a woman of many talents and achievements. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1960 and attended the University of Florida from 1961 to 1962. She had a successful career as a Reservation Agent for Eastern Airlines in Charlotte, NC, then at agencies in Lansdale, PA and Quincy, MA. Eventually she became the very successful co-owner of the "On The Go" Travel Agency in Quincy where she specialized in organizing travel for corporate executives around the world until she retired in 2003. She lived in Wrentham, MA where she thrived for 33 years.
In her free time, Joelle was an active member of the Little Theater in Charlotte, and later of the Lexington Pops Chorus in Lexington, MA. She and David moved down South in 2010, first to Lillian, AL and later to Pensacola. There she became the author and editor of the 1960 PHS graduate's website, which she handled with her much-appreciated enthusiasm, expertise and attention to detail. Joelle was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Michael.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, David Gibson; her son, Carl Nobles, Jr. (Jessica) of Charlotte, NC; her daughter, Amy Gilmore (Doug) of Columbus, OH; her brother, Tim Reese (Kate) of St. Louis, MO; her grandchildren, Dustin Reese and Brooks Gilmore; as well as her nephew and nieces, Ed Reese (Meredith) and Ellie Burge.
A visitation will be held 4:00pm-6:00pm Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, in Pensacola, FL. A private family interment will take place on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Union Cemetery, in Brewton, AL.
Joelle was an avid pet owner of rescues. She and her longhaired chihuahua, Max, would request donations to be made to the Escambia County Animal Shelter, in lieu of flowers.
Joelle will be remembered as a leader, always the first to lend a helping hand to her friends. Her vibrant personality and dedication to her loved ones will be greatly missed.
