Obituary
John W. Calhoun, 71, native of Pensacola, FL passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
John was born April 30, 1945 and graduated from Pensacola High School in 1964 and went on to serve in the US Army. He worked for the City of Pensacola as a firefighter for 36 years and retired in 2006 as a Battalion Chief of the 1st Battalion. He also was a 32nd Mason in the Masonic Lodge.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Evie Lee Calhoun; his brother, Jack Calhoun and his sister, Patsy Mayo.
John is survived by his loving wife Linda McCay Calhoun they spent 31 years together and were married in Cherokee, NC on August 6, 1996.
John is lovingly remembered by his brother, West Calhoun (Amy) of Pensacola; 2 stepchildren; four grandchildren; three nieces and two nephews.
Visitation will be held 10:00am until a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00am Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL with Rev. Ken Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Hwy., Pensacola, FL with full Fire Department Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
