January 14, 1967 – August 8, 2017
John Avery Cobbs, 50, of Orlando, FL passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 after a brief illness. He was a wonderful son and brother and a good friend to many. Avery was also a talented and well-respected artist in the Orlando area, a vegan and a strong supporter of animal rights.
Avery was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Richard H. Cobbs, IV, former Associate Rector of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Pensacola and former Rector of St. Simon's-on-the-Sound Episcopal Church in Ft. Walton Beach.
He is survived by his mother, Sue Nethery Cobbs; sister, Kathryn Cobbs Quillen; brother-in-law, Ron Quillen and nephew, Connor Quillen all residing in Pensacola.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 3200 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola. The Rev. Susan Sowers, Rector, will officiate.
Interment will be at St. Simon's-on- the-Sound, Ft. Walton Beach, on a date to be determined.
In addition, a Memorial Celebration will also be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 4:00pm at the Maitland Art & History Museum, 210 W. Packwood Ave., Maitland, in the Germaine Marvel Bldg.

Avery's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Florida Hospital, Orlando, who worked so hard to help Avery. And special thanks to his many friends who surrounded him with love during his illness.
