John Harold Hinman, Jr., 87, of Pensacola, FL passed away Monday, November 14, 2011. John was born on August 25, 1924 in Sunnyside, MS. He served in the Pacific in WWII as a 1st Lt. in the US Infantry. He went on to graduate with a BBA from the University of Mississippi in 1947. He served as president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. John worked for Wholesale Drug Company in Greenwood, MS from 1947-1949 and ultimately became a General Contractor in Pensacola from 1950-1985. John served on many boards including: Elder of First Presbyterian Church, Member and Chairman of Baptist Health Care Foundation, Chairman Advisory Board of Baptist Hospital for over 20 years, Member and Chairman of Florida State Vocational Education Committee for 12 years, Director of Horizon Bank for 25 years, served as President of Pensacola Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Fellow award, member of the Gulf Coast Economics Club, Pensacola Country Club serving on the Board of Directors, Revellers of Ariola, Debutante Charity Cotillion, member of the Pensacola Yacht Club and he was Past DeLuna XXX in 1979. He was also active in the Salvation Army, Community Chest (United Way) and the Boy Scouts of America. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Kathleen Fulghum Hinman; two sons, Dr. John H. Hinman, III (Suzanne) and Kenneth Fulghum Hinman; one daughter, Kathleen Hinman Taylor (Dave); seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Memorial Service in Celebration of Johns Life will be held 11:00am Thursday, November 17, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Randon Jackson and Rev. Frank Beall officiating. Private Family Burial will be held at Bayview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 33 East Gregory St., Pensacola, FL 32502.
