John Corley McLendon, 84, a Pensacola native, died December 11, 2010. He was born November 8, 1926 to Jeptha and Cleo McLendon. Mr. McLendon graduated from Pensacola High School and later joined the army serving in World War II. He graduated from Florida State University with a degree in business. Returning to Pensacola he worked for Fisher Brown Insurance for 35 years retiring in 1991 as a Vice President. Mr. McLendon was a 50 year member of Escambia Lodge #15, a member of Hadji Temple and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity serving as Chapter President. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Nancy Mills McLendon, sons; Bob (Lisa), Doug (Janet) , Chuck ( Joan) and daughter Jan Pacenta (Bob); as well as nine grandchildren, Betsy, Molly, John, Taylor, Carly, Chase, Katelyn, Matt and Lauren. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in law Betty and Lowell Elmore of Peachtree City, GA and his faithful dog Charlie. Graveside services will be at Bayview Memorial Park at 2:00pm on Tuesday December 14, 2010, with Dr. Herb Sadler officiating. The family appreciates the dedication and care provided by Dr. Amos Prevatt and his staff. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made a charity of your choice.
