Obituary

John R. McPaul, 96, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from high school, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, working in forests and farmlands near Rocky Mount, VA from 1937-1939. In 1944 he joined the Navy, but was immediately transferred to the Marines to serve in the 4th Marine Division in the Pacific, seeing action on Iwo Jima.

After discharge from the Marines in 1946, he returned to J&L Steel Corp where he worked for 37 years as a welder. He enjoyed 37 years of retirement. He was an avid football fan who rooted for the Steelers and Notre Dame, win or lose.

Mr. McPaul is preceded in death by his wife of 60 1/2 years, Dorothy Carolyn Kustes and his son, John Jr.

He is survived by his sister, Mary J. McPaul; daughter, Carol Huebner (Dennis); granddaughter, Julie Huebner; grandsons, Donnie McPaul (Stacie), Kevin Huebner (Jenny), Robert McPaul (Susan) and Stephen McPaul (Callie); great grandsons, Kain, Matthew and Knox; great granddaughters, Kinley, Karlyn, Gabrielle and Adalyn.

We will miss his wonderful stories, funny songs and generous loving presence in our lives.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am Friday, March 25, 2016 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola.
