John Michael Seymour, III, 71, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
John was born on January 5, 1946 in Selma, AL to John Michael Seymour, Jr. and Flora O'Flinn Seymour. He was the second of three children, an older sister, Patricia Joan Seymour and younger sister, Cathy Louise Seymour Welsh.
He attended Marion Military Institute and Auburn University where he received his degree in Civil Engineering. He would later complete course work to obtain his "PE" for Professional Engineer. He met the love of his life, Brenda Sue Bailey Seymour on a blind date while he was attending Auburn and she was attending Huntingdon College in Montgomery. They were married on September 6 th 1968. After graduation, they were stationed in Stuttgart Germany with the Army. Their first son, John Michael Seymour, IV was born during their time in Germany. They would eventually move to Birmingham, AL where their younger son, Christopher Scott Seymour was born.
John enjoyed a lengthy career with Sonat until retiring in 2000 and moving to Gulf Breeze to begin his second career with ECUA. Throughout his career, John was blessed to work alongside many amazing people. In 2005, he became a grandfather with the birth of his granddaughter, Ella Kate Seymour followed closely by his grandson, John Michael Seymour, V "Jack", his second granddaughter, Isabelle Diane Seymour was born in 2006 and his last grandson, Christopher Everitt Seymour was born in 2011. John was a member of Gateway Church of Christ.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; his two sons, Michael (Samantha) and Christopher (Jaime); his grandchildren, Ella, Jack, Isabelle and Everitt; and a very special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Grover and Pam Bailey.
Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm Friday, December 1, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
Funeral Services will be 1pm Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with graveside at 2pm Bayview Memorial Park. Jeremy Kughn and Alton Lister will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Michael Seymour, Christopher Seymour, Jack Seymour, Jackson Bailey, Grey Burge and Richard Hines.
