John David Shiver, 68, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. David was born in Century, FL on December 6, 1949 to James Samuel and Effie Lurlene Freeman Shiver. He was a graduate of Jay High School, class of 1967. David retired from the US Army as a Staff Sergeant, where he worked with computers from March 1970 until March 1990. After retiring, he worked as the Computer Operations Manager with Bank Data, Inc. from June 1992 until March 2012. He courageously fought bladder and prostate cancer in 2003 and won. His death was as a result of lung cancer. His support and love of family, Braves baseball, camping and fishing was his life. David was a member of Windy Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Samuel F. Shiver.
David is survived by his wife, Becky Shiver; sons, Harold David (Heather) Leate, Steve Ray (Jenny) Shiver and Jason (Amanda) Shiver; his daughter, Bekie (Joel) Porter; a sister, Patricia (Charles) Martin and a brother, Jim T. Shiver. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren to cherish.
Visitation will be held at 3pm Saturday, January 6, 2018 with Funeral services beginning at 5pm from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. LaDon Hall, longtime family friend and pastor officiating.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 2pm Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery in Jay, Florida.
