John B. Wilkins passed away at age 84 on Saturday, July 10, 2010. John was born May 26, 1926 in Gaffney, SC and was the son of William R. and Carrie Bass Wilkins. Mr. Wilkins was a veteran of World War II, The Koran War and The Vietnam War. He retired from the United States Navy after serving 21 years of active duty. He was also employed by Grumman Aerospace Corporation of Long Island, NY for 25 years. He retired in November 1990 in San Diego, CA and moved to Gulf Breeze, FL in 1991. Mr. Wilkins is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra; two sons, John Stephen Wilkins and wife Linda of Laguna Niguel, CA and Michael Lee Wilkins of Marietta, GA; three grand children-Taylor Lee Wilkins of Marietta, GA, Marine Corps LCpI John Matthew Wilkins and Joshua Stephen Wilkins of Laguna Niguel, CA; brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Michal Ivey of Pensacola, FL; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Jan Lee of Burlington, NC; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the Funeral Service at 11:00am Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Dr. Jerry Passmore will officiate. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
