Johnnie Lou Boling, 83, of Cantonment, FL passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024.
Johnnie Lou was born in Brewton, AL on November 16, 1941, to Mattie Lou (Rowell) and Luman Wyatt. The family moved to Pensacola where Johnnie Lou was raised. She met the love of her life Donald Boling and married on August 15, 1958. They moved to Tallahassee where Don finished mechanic school, and she completed her high school education. After graduation they moved back to Pensacola to start their family. Johnnie Lou was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She created a beautiful and loving home that she was proud of. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where she was a Charter Member of the New Life Sunday School Class and served on the Family Life Committee for many years. She and Don loved to travel with family and friends. Some of her favorite places were the Smokey Mountains and cruising to many destinations.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Don Boling; her parents; her sister, Rita Lister; as well as her son-in-law, Rev. Bennett "Benny" Abbott.
Johnnie Lou is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Smith (Billy), Pam Pitts, Donna Abbott (James Mack); eight grandchildren, Carrie Thornton (Jonathan), Eric Smith, Emily Smith, Craig Pitts (Tori), Christy Swing, (Kelvin), Jonathan Abbott (Jen), Lauren Abbott, Jamie Hill; 11 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Roy Lister; sister-in-law, Carolyn Garcia; special niece and nephew, Renee and Jeff Lister; many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held 10:30am until a Funeral Service begins at 11:30am Monday, December 16, 2024, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Revs. Dan Baughman and Virginia Beckham officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the New Life Sunday School Class.
The family would like to express a very special thank you to Dr. Tamburro, Dr. Ahmed and the Cardiology Staff at Sacred Heart, the wonderful and caring staff at DeLuna Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Vitas Hospice at Sacred Heart Hospital. Roy, Renee, and Jeff Lister for their love and on-going support. Her granddaughter, Lauren Abbott for being a loving and dedicated caregiver.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 2203 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32503.
