Johnnie Mae (Lowery) Cathcart, 93, of Pensacola, FL passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Johnnie was born in Milligan, FL on September 1, 1932, to George F. and Sarah Allie (Kennedy) Lowery. Johnnie began her education at Milligan Elementary, graduating from Ft Walton Beach High School in 1950. She was a member of the High Basketball team, Beta Club, and voted “Best All-Around”. From there she attended Masey-Draughon Business College in Montgomery, AL. Johnnie spent most of her working career at WSB Radion Station and Dunwoody United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA.

In 1952, Johnnie met Jack, who was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base. They married at First UMC of Ft Walton Beach and moved to Atlanta, GA in 1955. In 1995, Jack and Johnnie moved to Pensacola, FL. Johnnie enjoyed traveling in their RV, playing bridge, playing the piano, painting and her artwork, and her church family at Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Johnnie’s strengths include being a breast cancer survivor, loving devotion to Jack for over 70 years, and her strong faith and commitment to Christ.

Johnnie is preceded in death by her parents, George and Sarah Lowery; husband Jack.

Survivors include her daughter, Caroline Gilmore (Mike); son, Bob Cathcart, III; grandchildren, Michael Gilmore (Leah) of Gulfport, MS, Jacob Gilmore (Mollie) of Pensacola, Rae Cathcart of Duluth, GA, Jackson Cathcart (Kaitlyn) of Cumming, GA, Kennedy Cathcart of Kennesaw, GA and great-grandson Roman Cathcart of Cumming, GA.

Memorial visitation will be held 12:30-1:30 pm Monday, June 22, 2026, at Harper Morris Memorial Chapel. Following the visitation, the family will proceed to Barrancas National Cemetery for a service at 2:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice, 1230 Creighton Rd, Pensacola; Pensacola Library, 239 N Spring St, Pensacola.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the Brookdale Assisted Living Facility of Pensacola for their love, support, and care.
