Johnnie "John" Eddie Jarvis, Jr., of Gulf Breeze, age 87, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on November 08, 2018. He was born in Lake Wales, Florida on August 18, 1931 to the late John, Sr. and Julia Cowart Jarvis. John lived most of his early years in Miami, FL before attending the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL. After which he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Wasp. He went on to graduate from the University of Florida, with a degree in architecture.
In 1966 he became the Campus Planner at the University of West Florida, where he served for over 30 years. U.W.F. was his professional pride and joy, a true labor of love.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life and bride of 65 years, Donna Jean Jarvis; children John E. Jarvis, III (Karen Fulford) and Johanna Pohlmann (Leo); grandchildren Kevin D. Jarvis, Kelsey A. Jarvis, Kale H. Jarvis, Addison Lavaway (Jason) and Zach Pohlmann; and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00am until the memorial service begins at 10:00am, on Friday November 16, 2018 at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, 75 Fairpoint Dr, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561. A private cremation was entrusted to Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
