Obituary

Johnny Guy Baker, 74, Sergeant Major-US Army (Ret.), of Pensacola, FL died on Friday, March 20, 2015 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Colerain, NC, he joined the Army after high school and served his country proudly for more than 28 years, retiring in 1989. He lived his life fully, traveled the world, played golf regularly and enjoyed time spent with his family. His quiet, steady presence and welcoming spirit will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Allie Baker; his brothers, E.J. Baker and Marvin Baker and his sisters, Elmer Gray Evers and Edith Bryant. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sue H. Baker. Together they raised a beautiful blended family with his daughter, Kimberly Rudge (Barry) and his step-children; Angela Hannah (PJ), David Hannah (Janet) and Kimberly Barrack. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren; Natalie Graus, John Graus, Jacob Barrack, Zachary Barrack, Christian Hannah and Cyrus Hannah. He is also survived by his sisters; Inez Robertson and Hilda Hoggard and a wonderfully large extended family, including his beloved mother-in-law, Juanita Bottoms and friends and in-laws, Ed and Frankie Healey and their families. Services will be private and at a later date. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sacred Heart Hospital and Covenant Hospice for their exceptional care.
