Joseph Angelo Basso, 90, of Pensacola, FL passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023.
Mr. Basso was born on May 31, 1933, in New York to Aurelia (Fantuz) and Ettore Basso. As a young man he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and then to Dacusville, SC, and finally to Milton, FL in 2017. He received his GED. Mr. Basso worked as a manager at Kentucky Fried Chicken, he did terrazzo work, and as a machinist at Singer and Ryobi. A very dedicated and hard worker, he was recognized several years for having perfect attendance. His hobbies included gardening, tinkering in his workshop repairing lawn mowers, and riding his tractor tending to his property. He was a member of the Dacusville Lions Club and Holy Cross Bible study group, and often led the exercise group at the senior citizen's center when he lived in South Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Aurelia (Fantuz) and Ettore Basso; wife Janie H. Basso; sister, Flora B. Horne.
Mr. Basso is survived by his daughter, Susan Hall (John); son, Eddie Basso (Carol); grandsons, Taylor Basso (Lauren), Justin Basso (Kaitlyn fiancee), and Jeremy Basso; daughter, Linda Ormanoski (Jim); granddaughter, Jordan Brown (Mike), great grandson, Shepherd Brown; great granddaughter, Margaret Brown; grandson, Tanner Ormanoski; son, Joey Basso (Amy); grandson Bailey Basso; brother, Richard Basso (Hilda); and other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00am Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Msgr. Michael Reed celebrant. A Graveside Service will be 2:30pm Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Barrancas National Cemetery. A funeral cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 2:00pm for Barrancas National Cemetery.
The Basso family would like to express a very special thank you to the dedicated staff of The Haven of Our Lady of Peace, for all the care given to Mr. Basso.
