Joseph R. Broxton, Sr. of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. He was born in Little River, Florida and was reared in Fort Lauderdale and Pensacola.

He was the co-owner of Broxton Furniture 223 North Palafox/219 East Wright Street with his beloved wife. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He graduated from Business College. He was a Gideon, belonged to the Lions Club, and was a long time member of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Warren and Margaret Ida Ditto Gander, Andrew J and Laura H Broxton; parents, Charles McKinnon Broxton and Ruth Ditto Gander Broxton; his beloved wife, Marie Rose Schiesser Broxton; sister, Jean Broxton Spring, brother, Theron Broxton; brother-in-laws, Warren Parish, and William Stollenwerck and his aunt, Althea Gander Fox (Larry).

He is survived by son, Randall Broxton; daughter, Ruth Ann Broxton Smith; grandchildren; Christopher Smith, Jennifer Smith (Robert Dale McKinney); great grandchildren, Marie Frances, Olivia Grace, Emma Brooke and Isabella Rose McKinney, sisters, Rheba Parish, Margaret Stollenwerck; sister-in-law, Mildred Rice Broxton; cousins, Fay J Landrum, Jack Jernigan, John Charles Fox (Cheryl), Marilyn Gander Jenkins (Elmer), Ann Gander Allen and numerous other relatives.

Graveside service will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Bayview Memorial Park with Rev. Dan Morris officiating.
