Joseph Edward Patanjo, 86, of Pensacola died Friday, August 8, 2014. Affectionately known as "Chubby", Joe was born to the late Otto and Helen Patanjo on May 6, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY. There Joe met his future bride, Janet Romeo in 1944. They married in October 1949 and lived in East Patchogue, NY where Joe provided for his family as a tractor-trailer driver and truck mechanic. Joe and Janet lived in East Patchogue until 1987 when they relocated to Pensacola, FL. Always with a smile on his face, Joe loved his ever growing family and spending as much time with them as possible. Almost as much as his family, Joe also loved playing golf and volunteering his time to make others' lives better. He was active in his churches over the years, was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Joe is survived by his wife, Janet and their four children; (son) Daniel Patanjo and Nicolina Crigler, (daughter) Stephanie and Ken Barshov of Pensacola, FL, (son) Joseph and Donna Patanjo of Kissimmee, FL and (daughter) Ellen and Bob Conway of Winter Garden, FL. He also is survived by 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and their dear nephew and wife, Joseph and Karen Canero of Milton, FL. A viewing will be held at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 for family from 4-5pm followed by a 5-5:15pm Rosary service and a viewing continuing until 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 10am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Gulf Beach Hwy followed by interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1300 E. Hayes St., Pensacola.
